Megan Barnard received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001.  She moved to San Diego in 2002 where she began her career by developing a hand therapy program for a private out patient physical therapy clinic which served a Workman’s Compensation population with several locations throughout the county.
Megan later joined the hand therapy department at a major trauma hospital in San Diego where she gained more experience in treating acute traumatic conditions including tendon and nerve injuries.

Megan was given the opportunity to live in the United Kingdom and while there, served as a senior therapist in the hand therapy department of Cambridge University Hospital.  Megan’s skills in complex trauma and advanced splinting were further developed in this setting as this facility is a regional trauma center.

Megan joined the staff of Manual Orthopedic Physical Therapy in April 2013 when she returned to the United States.  Here, Megan has had the opportunity to introduce Occupational Therapy services to MOPT and help to develop a hand therapy service which benefits from having the skills of both OT and PT to provide patients with a more comprehensive rehabilitation experience.

Megan has taken extensive continuing education coursework in a variety of hand therapy topics throughout her career and is a long time member of the San Diego Hand Therapy Special Interest Group.
